During this time, many people are spending most of their time at home and aren’t able to interact with friends and family like they’re used to. While we may have to adjust how we interact with everyone, there are still several ways to let your friends and family that you are thinking about them. At The Fitzgerald Channelside, we’ve gathered a variety of ways to stay connected without compromising yourself or others. View our tips and make the most out of this time at our Channelside apartments!

#1 Video Chat

While it’s not exactly the same as seeing your favorite people in person, video chatting will allow you to connect with them and see their faces. There are a variety of platforms that allow for video chatting. Download Skype and chat through the webcam on your computer, or apps like Whats App allow you to have a video chat with everyone in your family or all of your friends. If you don’t have a webcam and everyone you want to chat with has an iPhone, the FaceTime app also you to group chat with everyone you’ve been wanting to see.

#2 Surprise Gifts

What better way to let someone know that you’re thinking of them than sending a surprise gift? Sending them a surprise to open will brighten up their day and make them feel less isolated. It can be something as simple as a card with a handwritten note, a bouquet of flowers, or even their favorite meal! If you’re sending something from your home, you will want to take extra precaution and sanitize the things you’re using before you send them.

#3 Stay in Touch

Even if you can’t video chat regularly, it is still important to text or call your friends and family as often as you can. Spending so much time in your home, you can easily start to feel isolated. Chatting with your friends and family on a regular basis will help you feel more connected to them and keep your mental health in check, as well as theirs. It doesn’t have to be an hours-long phone call, it can just be a quick catch up after work, or a text throughout the day to see how they’re doing. This is especially important for friends and relatives that are older. It will mean a lot to them that you’re checking in and it will ease your worries during this time.
